In The GS Pay Scale, How Many Pay Grades Are There?
Each of the General Schedule’s 15 distinct pay grades are described below. The credentials required for each grade is determined by the type of qualifications needed as well as the degree of responsibility, as well as the complexity of the work the post is classified by the Federal agency. When Will There Be a 2022 Government Pay Raise?
It is standard to expect the General Schedule basic pay schedule to be revised yearly in January. This includes an overall federal pay rise dependent on increases across the country in the cost of wages and salaries for private-sector employees. Locality pay is a geographic-based percentage rate which reflects pay levels for non-federal workers in specific geographic areas as established by surveys done by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and is available to the vast majority of GS employees.
What are the Current GS Locality Pay Areas?
In the USA, there are now more than 40 locality pay areas that span across the 48 Lower States as well as those in the District of Columbia in addition to Alaska, Hawaii, and the United States territories and possessions.
